Ann Maree and Larry are a local Orange couple that have been together for 7 years and have two gorgeous children, Vann and Milla. They wanted to have a destination wedding for their special day and chose the stunning Greenfield Farm Estate near Newcastle. Ann Maree and Larry were keen to have a relaxed, outdoor festival reception and chose to hire pieces from us, including bars, furniture, rattan pendant lights and with the combination of lights and candles, they successfully created a beautiful and fun festival vibe. There is so much we love from their day - the pictures in the rainforest, the denim jackets for the bride's tribe and the temporary tattoos they gave their guests, it definitely sounded like it was the best day.
Here is a summary from Ann Maree on their day;
The Venue:
Greenfield Farm Estate in Martinsville NSW. This was the perfect venue to achieve our outdoor, casual and intimate feel for our 85 guests.
the vibe:
we both wanted to create a casual, outdoor festival style reception. this style suits.
we had meet foodtruck from newcastle come on site and deliver our guests a brazilian bbq spread. it was absolutely delicious! we didn't want to do sit down meal or a seating plan so guests chose where to sit and got their own food and drinks.
we made sure we kept our wedding simple also we had some fun elements including stubby coolers and some temporary tattoos with our faces on it. it was fun to see adults and kids getting into the tattoos.
Favourite Details:
It all went too quickly - it literally felt as though the day was over in five minutes.
However my favourite moment was the ceremony - even though nerves were very evident, it was so nice having so many people that we love all in the one place, watching us say our vows. Many of our guests travelled from near and far including Queensland, even our MC travelled back from working in Hawaii which was so special.
The dress:
I have always loved the designs and dresses created by Jason Grech and I already knew which design I was going to get him to make for my wedding. I actually didn't try on any other wedding dresses, I knew what I wanted from the start.
It was a dress that was worn by a celebrity to the Brownlow Medal so it wasn't exactly a wedding dress, but I was set on getting that exact design and turning into a wedding dress. We only made a few changes to the design and material and of course had some fun playing around with the tassels, they were the favourite part of the dress.
I had 3 Melbourne trips to his showroom overall, I loved the whole process. He is a super talented designer and I love all his work. I’m still blown away with how stunning the final product was.
Tips for brides planning destination weddings:
Start planning and research as early as possible.
Book in all the major vendors first and work around that and make sure to leave yourself as much time as possible as there is a lot to do as the date gets closer (don’t leave it all until the end!).
This truly was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives, enjoy the planning and make a weekend of it at the destination (if possible)
And finally, don’t let anyone tell you what the day should be like – this is YOUR day!
If you had your time over what (if anything) you would change:
To have some time off directly after the wedding. It would have been so nice to just get away straight after the wedding and just have some time to wind down, it was such a special time and all we wanted to do was share that time with each other.
